Having obtained its exclusive distributorship agreement for the UK , Fernmac is now looking to recruit and train contractors to apply Sealmaster products to domestic driveways, minor roads and small car parks throughout the UK . In return Fernmac will supply product and offer technical support in terms of establishing these products and processes as an accepted method of asphalt maintenance and preservation in the UK .
Sealcoating is a process of spraying and squeegeeing a protective coating onto an asphalt surface to reduce degradation and prolong its life. The process has been utilised in the USA since the early 1960's and is now a recognized method of asphalt maintenance and is a multi billion dollar business.
Left untreated, asphalt areas will deteriorate rapidly. The asphalt binder that holds the aggregate together begins to oxidize turning the asphalt from rich black to brown and grey. It starts to weather and lose its binding properties, allowing moisture and oil to penetrate the asphalt causing further damage and deterioration.
Sealmaster asphalt sealers are designed to protect the binder that is lost through weathering and ageing. They provide superior protection against environmental distress with the added benefit of bringing the asphalt back to its deep rich black colour, but most importantly with correct treatment it helps to double the life of the asphalt.
The process of applying the Sealmaster coating can be carried out manually by one or two operators using a small spraying machine or a hand-held brush. An asphalt area of around 100 square metres can be prepared and coated twice within 2 days.
